The Emergency and Trauma Department Hospital Port Dickson (ETD HPD) is located 11 km form Port Dickson town. It officially began operations on June 6, 1994. This department serves as the ‘front line’ unit that handles various emergency cases, provides initial treatment, and dedicated to provide immediate medical attention to patients experiencing urgent health issues. The location is at the end of main access road within the hospital ground.

This department operates 24 hours a day and receives various emergency cases ranging from mild to severe, ensuring that emergency care is accessible at all times. Among the severe cases treated include those referred from Klinik Kesihatan Port Dickson, Pasir Panjang, Lukut, Linggi, Bukit Pelanduk, Teluk Kemang and Bagan Pinang.

In addition to treating multidisciplinary emergency patients, the Emergency Department also plays an essential role in Pre-hospital care (PHC), One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC), and medical coverage for mass gathering events. ETD HPD is also responsible for coordinating disaster response, including natural disasters and major accidents. ETD HPD also works closely with other hospitals, such as Hospital Tuanku Jaafar Seremban (HTJS), to ensure an efficient and effective referral system.

Emergency and trauma treatment services are one of the main clinical services provided by the Ministry of Health in every hospital. This document policy covers the key aspects of Emergency and Trauma department services. It also provides comprehensive guidelines on quality management for the services offered during pre-hospital care, triage, and all treatment zones. This document will be reviewed and updated every two years or as needed.

Medical management policies must follow the Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). Other policies and procedures are developed in collaboration with staff at the department and hospital levels. In cases where policies involve multiple disciplines, consultations with the relevant departments must be conducted. Policies and procedures must be stored in a room accessible to all staff.

The primary objective of the Emergency and Trauma Department at Port Dickson Hospital (HPD) is to deliver rapid, efficient, and high-quality medical care to critical patients and trauma cases. It aims to manage emergencies through an effective triage system, ensuring patient safety, and providing 24-hours emergency treatment services for the community.

• Effective Triage System: Prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition (via triage) to optimize resources, especially during high caseloads.
• Trauma & 24-Hour Emergency Care: Provides treatment, stabilization, and diagnostic services 24 hours for trauma and general emergency cases.
• Implementation of comprehensive quality management: in all clinical management processes, from pre-hospital to hospital services, ensuring patient care and recovery through efficient services and a high-risk management system in the patient's emergency care journey.
• Emergency service management: Provided by a well-trained team, including Emergency Physician, skilled medical officers, paramedics, nursing staff, and other healthcare management personnel.
