The Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health HPD was officially established on 17th January 2020. Community mental health services were initiated with the operation of MENTARI Port Dickson on 5th February 2020. MENTARI Port Dickson was subsequently gazetted on 12th December 2025 as the 39th Community Mental Health Centre (MENTARI) under the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia, formalising its role in delivering comprehensive community-based mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation services.

To foster a psychologically healthy and resilient Port Dickson community through mental health promotion, prevention of mental illness, stigma reduction, and the provision of comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality psychiatric care.

To realize the department’s vision by delivering timely, evidence-based, and person-centered psychiatric care encompassing early identification, treatment, protection, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented community services.

• To promote sustained recovery and treatment adherence by maintaining low patient defaulting rates through active engagement and follow-up.
• To optimise functional recovery and social reintegration of persons with mental illness through structured rehabilitation and supported employment programmes.
• To reduce relapse and morbidity associated with mental illness by ensuring adherence to treatment and continuity of care.
• To enhance community awareness and literacy regarding mental health through psychoeducation, counselling, and outreach activities.
